The Inaugural International Forum on Better Living Environments Successfully Held, TATA Wooden Doors’ 10th Silent Day Upgraded and Renewed

Release date : 30 Jul 2025

On July 28, 2025, the inaugural International Forum on Better Living Environments and the launch ceremony of TATA Wooden Doors’ 818 Silent Day “Hundred Homes Renewal Plan” were successfully held at the Beijing International Hotel. The event brought together a diverse group of cross-industry experts, scholars, association leaders, and media representatives. Engaging in brainstorming and consensus-building, they explored—through exchanges rich in intellectual depth and practical value—the central question of how to build “better living environments.”

Insights and Recommendations Centered on the Core Theme of “Better Living Environments”

As urbanization continues to accelerate and living standards steadily improve, the idea of “having a place to live” is gradually shifting toward “living well.” Better living environments have thus evolved from an abstract notion into both a key direction for industry development and a genuine aspiration of the public. This forum focused on advancing the construction of better living environments, aiming to create a dialogue platform that blends global perspectives with local wisdom. It sought to explore how the policy vision of “good housing” can be translated into tangible living experiences, and how the concept of sustainable development can be deeply embedded in the practice of better living environments.

Home furnishing enterprises play a vital role as practitioners in creating better living environments. In his remarks, TATA Wooden Doors’ Chairman, Zong Ruiyuan, introduced the “Two Completes, Two Goods” concept as a pathway for implementing the new “good housing” policy. The “Two Completes” refer to comprehensive urban renewal planning and fully functional community construction. The “Two Goods” emphasize high-quality housing hardware and optimized home space software. “To truly realize better living environments, we must build a complete ecosystem extending from the city to the home,” he stated—articulating TATA Wooden Doors’ core understanding of what better living should entail.

Zong Ruiyuan further stressed: “We must not only enhance physical spaces to deliver basic comfort, but also create scenario-based designs that infuse everyday life with happiness.” This sense of happiness manifests in concrete living situations—children playing freely in dedicated spaces without parents worrying about injuries; adults enjoying a quiet corner for solitude and relaxation after a busy day; and the elderly living in safety and tranquility, experiencing ease in their daily routines. “The meaning of a door has never been limited to opening and closing—it lies in connection. It connects spaces with life, and the present with the future.” This philosophy represents both TATA Wooden Doors’ guiding logic after more than two decades in the industry and the consumer’s vision of the ideal “good home.”

Wang Huimin, Vice President of the China Real Estate Association, emphasized “comfort” as the essential core, turning an abstract ideal into measurable criteria: “True comfort is not about flashy design, but about spatial planning that aligns with life’s rhythms, environmental creation that resonates with local climate, and functional details that accommodate people of all ages. The ability to precisely respond to real living needs is what gives substance to the essence of a ‘good home.’”

From the perspective of industrial upgrading, Liu Zhaobin—former Chief Engineer of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, former President of the China Association for Quality Promotion, and current President of the Beijing Huaxia Industrial Economics Research Institute—shared in-depth reflections on “Transformation, Upgrading, and High-Quality Development,” providing guidance for the industry’s future direction. He noted: “To build good housing and achieve better living environments, we must begin from a macro perspective of high-quality industrial development and translate it into every concrete stage. The key lies in seizing five core levers: using unified standards to resolve bottlenecks in industrial coordination; harnessing demand insights to steer technological innovation; building strong brands to transmit trust in quality; driving technological breakthroughs to enhance living experiences; and safeguarding market order through the rule of law. Only in this way can enterprises steadily advance along the path of high-quality development, ensuring that good housing truly becomes a vision built and shared by all.”

The sharing of international experience also provided valuable references for domestic efforts. Patrick Nijs, former Belgian Ambassador to China and lifelong Honorary Ambassador, drew on Europe’s practices in residential development: “The essence of sustainable and better living environments is balance—balancing heritage preservation with modern needs, balancing technological innovation with humanistic care, and achieving harmonious coexistence between people and spaces.” He noted that in many European old-town renovation projects, the original architectural facades are preserved while the interiors are upgraded, ensuring that historical charm coexists with modern functionality. Such practices, he suggested, could be of great relevance to China’s own development in this field.

TATA Wooden Doors’ 10th 818 Silent Day: Three Initiatives Bringing Better Living into Everyday Life

Noise pollution has become a pressing challenge to better living environments. According to relevant statistics, 700 million people worldwide are exposed to harmful noise levels above 55dB. In China alone, 5.706 million noise complaints were filed in 2023, while related social media discussions exceeded one billion. In response, TATA Wooden Doors—drawing on 26 years of industry experience and service to over 10 million households—launched its 10th 818 Silent Day under the theme “A Good Home with TATA, Quiet Living for Millions.” Through upgraded noise-reducing doors, a service network covering more than 1,200 cities across China, and three major initiatives—the Better Living Sub-Forum, the “Good Housing Exhibition” in residential communities, and the Hundred Homes Renewal Plan—TATA seeks to make comfort and happiness tangible, advancing the realization of “good housing.”

Taking the 10th 818 Silent Day as an opportunity, TATA Wooden Doors officially launched the Hundred Homes Renewal Plan during the forum. In its first phase, the program will recruit 100 households for customized renovation, providing free renewal design solutions, priority access to new products, and renovation subsidies. The aim is to ensure that "good homes" are delivered first to Chinese households. From listening to user needs, to delivering tailored solutions, and ultimately to implementing upgrades, this end-to-end approach ensures that better living does not remain a slogan but becomes a lived reality. When enterprises capture and respond to even small expectations from users, these can aggregate into powerful momentum for industry-wide progress.

The successful hosting of the 2025 Inaugural International Forum on Better Living Environments and the launch of TATA Wooden Doors’ 818 Silent Day Hundred Homes Renewal Plan infused new vitality into the pursuit of better living through the interplay of visionary ideas and grounded practices.
